The Governing Board’s focus for the 2022-2023 school year includes increasing diverse enrollment, addressing equity gaps, offering various training programs related to the regional labor market, developing student housing, and increasing funding. The board will also continue the process of a potential name change for the college in response to widespread student and community feedback.

Sara E. Brylowski and her husband are residents of Felton with their teenage daughter, and she also has two adult children who live in the area.
Sara is a Leaming Program Manager at Google where she is responsible for guiding the development of learning applications that help professionals build skills that grow their careers. Prior to moving to the tech sector, Sara worked at UC Santa Cruz on a program that helped high school students in underserved communities earn the credits they need to graduate. In both of those roles, Sara’s greatest satisfaction was in helping students grow their careers and their potential through access to education. Sara holds a Master of Information and Library Science from San Jose State University.
As a parent and as someone who attended college as a non-traditional student, I understand some of the challenges students face in achieving their degrees, and am passionate about providing access to education to all communities so that they can achieve their dreams. Cabrillo College serves a diverse population, and I’m committed to ensuring that all students are supported.
Donna Ziel
Candidate Statement
I am seeking re-election to the Cabrillo College Board of Trustees to continue supporting our faculty, staff and students to be the best that they can be. We have many exciting challenges and opportunities ahead such as building student housing, developing new programs to meet the workforce training needs of our region and increasing diversity, equity and inclusion in all that we do. My background and experience will be important as we move forward. During my three terms on the Cabrillo Board, I have twice been Chair of the Board, have served on a Presidential Search Committee and two Bond Committees. I serve on the Cabrillo College Foundation Board and am a member of the Veterans Services Advisory Committee, the Stroke and Disability Learning Center Advisory Committee and the Transfer Advisory Committee. I established {and Chair) the Board’s Legislative Advocacy Subcommittee. The latter has worked with our faculty union to support revisions to a systemwide policy that limits course repeatability. I was instrumental in establishing Cabrillo’s membership in a statewide Women’s Caucus which has honored outstanding Cabrillo women faculty and staff. I look forward to continuing to support the best community college in the state! Vote for me in November!
